General Q & A:

(Q) When is the 2020 Tough Ruck?
(A) The 2020 Tough Ruck has been postponed to Sunday, September 13, 2020.

(Q) I plan to participate on September 13. What do I need to do?
(A) All who were registered to participate in the 2020 Tough Ruck scheduled for April 13 are automatically entered in the postponed race scheduled for September 13. We’ll see you on 9/13!

(Q) I’m unable to participate on September 13. What are my options?
(A) Those signed up to ruck and cannot make the September 13 date can chose a one-time deferment and receive “Guaranteed Access” for Tough Ruck 2021 marathon. You must request to defer by April 30, 2021 via this link.  Once you complete this form you will receive an email on April 30th with your “Guaranteed Access” code.  You must be completed the deferral process by Monday, May 7, 2020  at 11:59 p.m. Each Rucker’s current fundraising will be moved to their new 2021 campaign.

(Q) Is the fundraising deadline still in place?
(A) The fundraising deadline for Tough Ruck 2020 has been rescheduled from April 1, 2020 until August 13, 2020 for the Tough  Ruck 2020.

(Q) I want to participate in September.  Can I still earn additional swag above my fundraising level?
(A) The new fundraising deadline to earn swag above my fundraising level is July 13th.  If you registered to raise $950 and you raise $1500 by July 13th you can earn the official Boston Marathon jacket. If you reach a new level of swag, email info@militaryfriends.org subject line: Swag with your name, phone and sweatshirt and/or jacket size.

(Q) I signed up as a volunteer for the April 19 Tough Ruck, do I need to register again?
(A) Those who registered to volunteer for the April 19 Tough Ruck will registered to volunteer for the September event. Stay tuned for additional information.

(Q) Will additional bibs be available for Tough Ruck 2020?
(A) Currently Tough Ruck 2020 registration is closed. We will make a determination in mid-May if addition bibs will be released.

Tough Ruck 2020 Rescheduled For September 13, 2020:

March 24, 2020 – Thank you for your patience over the past 11 days as our team has worked to secure the logistics so that together we can continue the Tough Ruck 2020 mission. Due to the COVID-19 worldwide crisis and under the guidance of health and safety officials at the state and local levels, we have rescheduled this year’s Tough Ruck to Sunday, September 13, 2020.

We are proud to work with our partners at the Boston Athletic Association and continue to be part of the historic Boston Marathon weekend.  We want to extend a very special thank you to the Town of Concord, Minute Man National Park and The Fenn School for embracing the mission and helping us secure the required permitting and event coordination.

The well-being and safety of our Tough Ruckers, their families, our volunteers and supporters remains our top priority. We must come together as we navigate these unprecedented times. We are more motivated than ever to make the Tough Ruck 2020 the best yet. We sincerely hope you’ll be able to be on the trails for Tough Ruck 2020 however if you are unable to attend the rescheduled event, you will be eligible for a deferment and guaranteed entry for Tough Ruck 2021.  Additional information will be available in the coming weeks.

Tough Ruck Fundraising Deadline Extended:

March 14, 2020 – Tough Ruck Fundraising Deadline Extended: We understand that the events in surrounding COVID-19 have made it challenging for many Ruckers to meet the upcoming 2020 fundraising deadline. As we are looking for a new race date for Tough Ruck 2020, we are extending the fundraising deadline for all Ruckers. Your credit card for your fundraising commitment will not be charged on April 1st. We continue to work diligently with local and state partners to secure a 2020 race date that aligns with our long partnership with National Park Service, the Town of Concord and the Boston Athletic Association. We appreciate your continued patience while we work through these next steps. When we finalize the logistics, we will share out options to participate in Tough Ruck and a new fundraising deadline. In the meantime, remember the mission, keep training and RUCK ON!

COVID-19 & Tough Ruck Postponement:

March 13, 2020 – Tough Ruckers, As the President declares a National State of Emergency, our first thoughts are for the safety and health of you and your families. Shortly following this morning’s announcement of the Boston Marathon postponement, Massachusetts Governor Baker also announced an emergency order banning gatherings over 250 people. With the developing COVID-19 situation, Tough Ruck 2020 has been postponed.

Thank you to the hundreds of people who have called, emailed and messaged in the last few days with not only questions but sharing your desire to complete the mission and honor the Fallen. We are excited to let you know our team met this afternoon with local public safety officials and the National Park Service. We appreciate your patience as we work with our partners through the logistics of next steps.

As soon as we have definitive information on a date and location and options for Ruckers to participate, we will update you further. In the meantime, take care of yourself and your families. We will RUCK ON!

Tough Ruck 2020

 

Registration opens at 12:01AM on Veterans Day, November 11, 2019. Click HERE to register (direct link //charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/toughruck2020).  Tough Ruckers who register on opening day will receive a complimentary Tough Ruck patch.

***Before you choose your registration, please understand there are no downgrades in fundraising commitments, cancellations or bib transfers for Tough Ruck.

***When you register you are committing to fulfill your individual fundraising minimum even if you cannot participate in the event due to injury, illness, military orders or any other circumstances.  Your efforts to fund raise provide critical support to military families across Massachusetts through Military Friends Foundation 501c3.  With only 1000 bibs available, we rely on each participant to fulfill their fundraising commitment so that we can serve our military families.

Individual Registration Option 1:

$125 registration fee | $450 TR fundraising commitment | Shirt, Official Boston Marathon Medal (finishers only)

Individual Registration Option 2:

$50 registration fee | $950 TR fundraising commitment | Hoodie, Shirt, Official Boston Marathon Medal (finishers only)

Individual Registration Option 3:

$50 registration fee | $1500 TR fundraising commitment | Boston Marathon Jacket, Hoodie, Shirt, Official Boston Marathon Medal (finishers only).  Legacy ruckers who successfully met the $1500 fundraising goal in 2019 may use the contact form to receive a waiver code for the registration fee.

When: 

Sunday, September 13, 2020 (Rain or Shine)

Where: 

The Fenn School, 516 Monument Street, Concord, MA (start/finish line)

Timeline:

5:15am -7:00am – Weigh stations open.  All must be in line to have ruck weighed NLT 6:45am.
6:55am – Wave divisions are staged
7:00am – All Ruckers are required to attend the mandatory safety briefing and tribute to the Fallen.
7:20am – Step-off
All Ruckers must complete the course within 9 hours and official timing stops at 9 hours. If you continue after that time, you are continuing at your own risk.

Parking/Shuttle Buses:

There is no parking for Ruckers or Spectators at the Start/Finish line located at the Fenn School or the surrounding streets. More information about approved parking locations and shuttle buses to and from the Start/Finish coming soon. 

Weight Divisions:

There are four divisions: Military/Uniformed First Responder Heavy, Military/Uniformed First Responder Light, Civilian Heavy and Civilian Light.  Your ruck will be weighed the morning of the Ruck and dress will be checked.  At that time you will be allowed to declare weight division changes if needed. Make sure to check out the Rules tab for more detailed information.
